29-year-old Lisa Courtney loves monsters, but not the sinister, scary kind. Instead, she obsesses over the Japanese anime series Pokemon, an abbreviation of the original title “Poketto Monsuta,” also known as “Pocket Monsters.”
She first encountered Pokemon through a gaming magazine and fell in love with Pikachu. Over the past 45 years, American collector Kevin Silva has garnered 2,501 Batman items. He began collecting at the age of five when he was given a Batman lunchbox. His passion for Batman has endured, even dreaming of seeing the Dark Knight’s iconic logo. After 45 years, Kevin was recognized by Guinness World Records on October 25, 2013.
His favorite item is an outfit modeled and worn by celebrity Batman Adam West in the 1960s TV series. The Batman enthusiast is proud to say, “It was a very important thing to get because it substantiates my collection…now my collection has a name”.
Winnie The Pooh Haven
Computer software designer Deb Hoffmann, 48, has been awarded by Guinness World Records for having 13, 213 “Pooh and Friends Memorabilia Collection” The black-furred bear, a female named Winnipeg, was smuggled in Britain during the First World War by Canadian lieutenant, Harry Colebourn. The year 2015 marks the 101st anniversary of the foundation of the real life bear that inspired author A. A. Milne’s cuddly creation. This bear cub was later watched by AA Milne’s son, Christopher Robin at the London zoo.
Deb has spent approximately $98,000 to build up Winnie and friends memorabilia. One of her most valuable items is the handmade bee, a part of the Disney World Winnie The Pooh costumes. Each item was priced at $1,000 and only ten were remaining left.
