Pokémon Tretta is an arcade game developed by Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. and Marvelous AQL. Officially announced on April 18, 2012, Pokémon Tretta was rolled out nationwide in Japan in early July. The arcade machines became fully operational on July 14, 2012 with the release of the first set. The machines are also available in Taiwan in Traditional Chinese and in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand in English.
What makes the arcade game different from the standard video game is that when Pokémon are captured, the game dispenses a plastic chip called a TRETTA that contains the data of the obtained Pokémon. This lets you take home a captured pokémon and bring them anywhere you go.
During a visit to SM City North Edsa, I took my son Gab to the Arcade ( Quantum ) . Inside are very familiar machines called Pokemon Tretta, which is now Gab’s favorite game. The gameplay is very simple. You select an area of a map to search for Pokemon opponents (Search Mode), fight a 3-on-3 Pokemon battle (Battle Mode), and acquire 0-3 Pokemon Tretta cartridges (Get Mode). At about $1 per play ( 45 PHP ), it’s not cheap. But the opportunity to acquire more and more powerful trettas that you can take home keep kids and adults coming back for more.
It was Gab’s 5th visit when he finally catched a Primal Groudon ( Legend Class ) and was very excited to claimed his very first Tretta File. Anyone catches a Legend Class can claim a Pokemon Tretta file at the arcade counter. Just present your captured Legend Class Tretta. While on the other hand it’s your option if you want to avail the Tretta file in exchange of your Tretta chips being marked which will depreciate its market value in case you want to sell it in the future. Just to give you an idea, a primal legend class tretta is being sold at a standard price of $20 to $30 each. About 1,000 to Php 1,500.
