Angelina Is An Avid Knife Collector

Famous Academy Award, Golden Globe-winning actress and Special Envoy for the United Nations, High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina Jolie is surely making us a star-making performance. She is also a renowned producer, screenwriter, director and mother of six adopted children. Jolie has collected fortune, fame, desire, and family over the years, but not everyone knows her secret hobby.

Her career as leading Hollywood lady solidified when she personified video game heroine Lara Croft in ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ in 2001. Jolie had to familiarize all sorts of weapons on set for roles, but her fascination with knives began in her childhood.

Jolie got her first daggers at age 11 or 12. She would attend Renaissance fairs with mother, checking out all the different blades. She became the subject of controversy in 2008 when she bought knives for her son Maddox at a young age, but stressed that they were already talking about good defense, history etc.

“It reminds you of history, and there’s just something beautiful about them and traditional. Each country has different knives and weapons, and that’s why I started collecting them. I’ve done this since I was a little girl,” says Angelina of her proud collection.

Angelina knife collection mainly contains exhibits from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, but there are also other rare antique knives and swords. She possesses many Darrel Ralph-Balisongs, handmade butterfly knives. These are so in demand that orders can take up to months. She also has some William Henry folding knives with a personalized touch. The best knives she has are worth well over 20,000 euros.

One night at Conan O’Brien’s show, the host conveniently had a Filipino butterfly knife on hand and asked Jolie to ‘show her chops’, so to speak. She began rotating and whirling the knife a few times in her hand.

Angelina’s knives have embodied her personal relationships, desires and even let her children inherit the knives collection. She constantly buys first edition knives and books in her life. Jolie mastered knife exhibition skills at an early age. She knows Bladesmithing and Balisong knife skillsets.
