This former Italian UN employee has gathered an amazing collection of 15,000 Do Not Disturb signs from lodging establishments all around the world.
Although he may not have planned on starting his collection, he has since developed a strong interest in the artwork, narratives, and design of these occasionally remarkable signs.
Flores had several possibilities as he traveled the world for work because of his UN employment. In 1995, after returning from a business trip to Pakistan with an intriguing-looking Do Not Disturb notice, Flores unintentionally began his collection.
Flores says his collection isn’t about the money and it’s “anybody’s guess” how much it might be worth: “I don’t only think of it in terms of value or monetary value, to me it’s just fun collecting and I enjoy having them,” he says.
Flores also encourages other people who travel extensively to start similar collections or find other ways to entertain themselves on business trips.
